As climate change intensifies, urban environments face escalating risks from forest fires, extreme weather events leading to flooding, sea-level rise, heatwaves, and other environmental hazards. CityTalk’s engagement underscores a commitment to fostering sustainable and adaptive urban development practices that mitigate climate risks and enhance resilience. Our conversations dive into climate action plans, green infrastructure projects, and community-driven initiatives that strengthen local capacity to better prepare for, withstand and recover from climate-related shocks and stresses. CUI recognizes the importance of equity and social justice in climate resilience efforts, striving to address the disproportionate impacts of climate change on equity-deserving groups, including low-income communities, people of color, and Indigenous peoples. We build platforms that promote a holistic approach to urban sustainability that integrates environmental, social, and economic considerations, ensuring that Canadian cities are well-equipped to thrive in the face of a changing climate.
