A core element of CUI’s mission is to collaborate with community leaders, academics, and activists to promote local solutions to the challenges facing Canadian cities.
CityTalk Canada programs were created to enable the regular exchange of local, streetwise perspectives and creative solutions to benefit all communities.

the numbers
The pandemic initiated a tremendous level of functional change in urban communities around the globe. Soon after its launch in early March 2020, CityTalk became a welcome online meeting place for Canada’s citymakers to share key learning and best practices. It continues to be a popular go-to resource, as these numbers attest.

Mary Rowe is a leading urban advocate and civil society trailblazer who has worked in communities across North America. She’s past-president of Ideas That Matter, a program based on the work of renowned urbanist Jane Jacobs, and served as Executive Vice President of the Municipal Art Society (MASNYC), a civic advocacy organization focused on the built environment.
Mary is a frequent contributor to national and international city-building programs, including UN Habitat and the Massey City Summit, and a sought-after media commentator and writer.
